3/27/16 (Sonrise) - Luke 24: 1-12 “Unbelievable Truth (part 1)
Pastor Alan would like us to provide some music during the Sonrise Service again this year. The service will start at 7:00 AM. Please sign up below to participate.
This is in addition to the Easter service we will be doing at 8:30 AM that day.
The Resurrection
24 But very early on Sunday morning[a] the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. 2 They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. 3 So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes.
5 The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? 6 He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man[b] must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.”
8 Then they remembered that he had said this. 9 So they rushed back from the tomb to tell his eleven disciples—and everyone else—what had happened. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and several other women who told the apostles what had happened. 11 But the story sounded like nonsense to the men, so they didn’t believe it. 12 However, Peter jumped up and ran to the tomb to look. Stooping, he peered in and saw the empty linen wrappings; then he went home again, wondering what had happened.

ReplyDeletestill seeking permission from the easter bunny on this one - as i recall, i didn't do this one last year.. true?
ReplyDeleteCorrect. I remember doing Were You There as the lone guitarist
DeleteI think last year we discussed the TONE of this service - seems like we were trying to figure out how to bridge the divide between the somberness of Maundy Thursday and and the crucifixion on Friday to the victory dance on Easter morning. :) Food for thought... for whomever takes the lead on this.
ReplyDeleteMike handled the Sonrise Service for both 2014 and 2015. Pastor Alan will have to let us know his plans for this year.
DeleteThe tone of sonrise service should start somber then end joyfully.
ReplyDeleteIll be there
ReplyDeleteSongs are posted. Please let me know ASAP if there are any concerns about them. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJust need to make sure we do Your Great Name in the new key, which I do not know what key. It's easier for me to sing in the new key, but we should for the most part have it because we've done it in the new key once.
DeleteI have never played Mercy Tree before but have heard the song. I don't think it will be an issue.
DeleteI would like to play keys on Mercy Tree. I listened to it this morning and the piano part in there is nice. So if it's not too much trouble, could we have a second keyboard? Thanks
ReplyDeleteYou can always take mine, and I would not mind at all ;)
DeleteWe still need yours though for the strings sound. If it's too much to set up the second one, I will take you up on the offer. Thank you.
