18 “So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 19 Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21 so that as long as the sky remains above the earth, you and your children may flourish in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors.
22 “Be careful to obey all these commands I am giving you. Show love to the Lord your God by walking in his ways and holding tightly to him. 23 Then the Lord will drive out all the nations ahead of you, though they are much greater and stronger than you, and you will take over their land. 24 Wherever you set foot, that land will be yours. Your frontiers will stretch from the wilderness in the south to Lebanon in the north, and from the Euphrates River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. 25 No one will be able to stand against you, for the Lord your God will cause the people to fear and dread you, as he promised, wherever you go in the whole land.

ReplyDeleteThe band sounded great last Sunday to me sitting in the congregation. We have come so far - thank You God for such a blessing as to be involved in such a worthy endeavor!! An area that we can work on is searching for new and wildly effective ways to engage the congregation. I can feel the untapped potential. It's in the timid applause that rise up after some of the songs - it's in the measured clapping and foot tapping - in the congregation I felt like a shy kid at a high school dance who is secretly hoping to be INVITED out onto the dance floor to take a hold of what is bursting inside of me - to let go and dance and sing before the Lord - not because I have been coerced into but because the atmosphere was so right that it naturally flowed out of me and I simply became a part of something beyond myself as the Spirit washed over the Body gathered there at the Lord's feet having gathered there to worship - to worship the One who is worthy.
ReplyDeleteWe can work at ways to encourage this atmosphere - but I believe that God alone has the ability to "create" it - we will not be CREATING it - we will be preparing a place where God will create it - and it will be something like we could have never dreamed of creating.
The music is good! The sound is good! God has brought us to a place where the mechanics of all that are a GIVEN and we can turn our eyes toward the PRIZED END of these "means" - connective worship - sharing worship - sharing God and enjoying Him the way He made us to enjoy Him. :)
I love you guys so much. What a wonderful thing God has given us. :) :)
Thanks Rob! God has truly blessed us all in an amazing day. This is just the beginning of greater things to come for our church and community. This group has always felt like home to me and it is an honor to serve alongside each and every one of you. God bless you all!
DeleteThank you Rob. I really was proud to serve as worship leader and very proud of the group who came together with so many of us not feeling well or getting over being sick. God works in our favor and it's an honor to work for him.
